Declan is beginning to show us his sleep routine. He is able to be awake for about 2 to 2.5 hours during the day before he needs a nap, and he puts himself to sleep each time. At night he still waking twice to eat, and we are determined to get it down to once a night for a bottle. Once our company leaves and life is back to normal then we are going to work on that again. He usually goes back to sleep after his bottle at night, but sometimes he does want to play and then he gets quite mad at us for laying him back down.
Declan loves to EAT! He drinks his bottles easily and is learning all about new foods. He opens his mouth like a little birdie for the spoon and usually likes what is on the other end of it. One week he had carrots and they came back up twice - it could have been a timing issue with the flu or that carrots do not agree with him, but we are going to give those a break. Other than that, food is fair game and he does pretty well with new flavors.
Declan still shows very little interest in really moving. He has great tummy time sessions, holds his head up high, and then will roll over. He has only rolled over from his back to belly a couple of times and do noes not seem to interested in doing so again. He is not even close to crawling. For a second child I am completely fine with it and know how happy I am to leave him in one spot and he is still there when I come back!
Declan does do a great job sitting and really mastered that skill this month. He sits with a very straight back and loves his new view of the room. This works well until Lincoln tackles him...
Declan is beginning to babble more...he will do more screeching and singing than babbling but it is a welcome sound. He tends to really "sing" in the car right before he falls asleep, and I always refer to it is as his grand finale :)
It is hard to believe that seven months ago we were a family of three. Our life is busy, challenging, but oh so fun with two little boys in our life and we are so lucky to have both Declan and Lincoln to love and keep us on our toes!
We love you Declan Dougherty!
