Playing with the Primates
We visit the Columbus Zoo at least twice a week; we are members so it is the perfect place to spend an hour or two in the mornings and on the weekends. Since his first birthday, Lincoln has really started to notice the animals in the habitats. He will wave, shriek, and clap to get their attention and now loves to walk to the various places when we let him free from his stroller.
This particular morning we decided to visit the "Congo" and see the primates. Linc enjoyed walking on his own and breezing through the various habitats and animals. When we got to the "mandrills" (an ape, not a monkey), he stopped and put his hand on the glass. A smaller mandrill came running by and jumped at Linc. Linc jumped a little and shrieked. Very quickly, a larger mandrill and the baby came back and played with Lincoln for about 15 minutes! We whipped out our phones to take a video, and I pieced the three clips together to create a short video. Linc grew bored after 15 minutes and walked away; a group of three young boys came up and the mandrills showed no interest in them. I have no idea why they were so attracted to Lincoln, but it was too cute and funny on both ends!
