Likes? Feeding himself! Lincoln is starting to get really good at putting his own bites into his mouth and does not like to be spoon fed anymore. We still sneak in bites on the spoon or it would take forever for him to feed himself his whole meal. Speaking of meals, he is really eating a well-balanced diet. His lunch and dinner usually consist of a protein, a veggie/fruit, and starch.
Dislikes? He dislikes leaving daycare. When I pick him up, he is all smiles to see me until I try to take him out the door! He fusses all the way to his car seat and all the way home. I really think he loves his friends and the familiarity of his routine there. I also know he is very loved by the three women who take care of him. When we arrive in the morning, he easily goes to Ms. Norma, gives us a wave good-bye, and he is ready for his day. Sometimes I wish he would fuss just a little when we left, but at the same time it makes me beyond happy that he is so comfortable and feels safe in his routine.
Daycare Notes
Monday (2/24): Baby Lincoln had a good morning! He played ball with Yasmin. Yasmin and Lincoln rolled the ball to each other back and forth. He is actually playing now! Yasmin tells Lincoln to get the ball when it rolls away. When Lincoln sees Yasmin making her way to get the ball, Lincoln quickly crawls over to the ball before she can get it.
Tuesday: Lincoln was eating finger foods at breakfast when he first saw the new baby, Miles. He had the best reaction! He yelped and then threw back his head and laughed out loud. It was the most wonderful thing! Yasmin and I (Norma) were thrilled. Baby Lincoln then began to vocalize and it sounded just like he was talking. I think children react to children so beautifully.
Wednesday: Lincoln had an eventful day. He is telling us he hates his cereal and wants only finger foods. He drinks his bottle down at breakfast, ate the chunks of banana, ate a small amount of toast too. Before all of this, I tried to feed him his cereal with bananas in it. He ate a little but but then turned up his cute little nose at it. Then he gobbled does the toast and bananas. I love that Lincoln's wonderful enthusiastic personality is blossoming. He enjoys life and lets us know he wants to be the one who decides - although not always possible! Today Lincoln explored the kitchen. He discovered the children's table and sat under one, grabbed on a leg, and pushed it back and forth...back and forth. He headed for the dog's water bowl because it looked so inviting. It is in a hidden corner of the kitchen, but Lincoln made a beeline for it so I put up a barricade. That is when Lincoln found the table leg and exercised his creativity with it.
Thursday: Baby Lincoln works well independently now that we have Myles - it works out great because Lincoln can easily entertain himself with any toys. Being able to crawl around is a plus too since he get what he wants. He is just a happy baby! He doesn't fuss unless he is hungry or tired. We love that million dollar smile!
Friday: Baby Lincoln crawled into the kitchen today and played with Georgie (the dog). Lincoln was curious about Georgie's leash so he grabbed it and sat up kicking his feet. Georgie was very kind to Lincoln and gave him a kiss. Lincoln wanted to return the favor. Lincoln grabbed onto Georgie's ear, but Georgie walked away. Lincoln loves expressing his love!
Tuesday (3/4): Lincoln has developed a new skill. He takes each box off a shelf and dumps it on the rug. It is the most hysterical thing to watch. Lincoln does this with great delight and expression. We had to laugh and laugh at his antics!
Wednesday: Lincoln and Atticus came into the big playroom this morning before all the older children arrived. It is an amazing thing to me to see how much Lincoln has developed in only a few weeks. The minute he could crawl, everything changed. He saw the world as "reachable". He knows how to get from the baby room to the big playroom. He also plays differently there. I (Norma) invited Lincoln out of the baby room and he crawled right to the housekeeping corner to pull out food and dishes. He observed the play of the older children. But his favorite thing was to grab a table leg and push it back and forth. Cute!
Friday: Baby Lincoln did not want to go down early so we tried again at 9am or so. He did sleep well. He seems so much better and we are all glad. He surprised us and went down again for a nap (3.5 hours!). He is probably using his sleep to recover. In between, he was his usual happy self. Smiley, vocalizing, and laughing out loud!
