32 Weeks!

Lincoln is loving the new views as he sits, rolls, and rocks on all fours (ready to crawl!).  He plays with his toys in new ways, banging almost everything together.  He laughs at his crazy dad as Dad shows Lincoln how to crawl around (which almost always ends up in Dad "tackling" Lincoln with kisses).  He can also get things that he wants by moving toward a certain toy so it is fun to see his interest and which toys he really likes (mostly anything that lights up and plays annoying music...thanks for those Christmas presents! :).

Likes?  Eating, playing, taking long naps at Ms. Norma's (sometimes three hours!)

Dislikes?  Being bored.  Lincoln was making such precious sounds - ooooooo, aaaahhhhhh, giggle, squeaks, etc), but I think this is all taking a back seat to his big physical development of figuring out crawling.  He is usually very focused and determined when he is rocking and rolling and then plays happily.  But, the silence in the room is broken when Lincoln gets bored.  He grunts.  He groans.  He whines.  It drives Brian and me crazy.  My guess is the grunting is from boredom because he really does not do it at Ms. Norma's house, he doesn't do it when he is actively playing, and he doesn't do it when we are out and about.  It could also mean he is hungry or cold (very likely in our house).  We are introducing some simple baby signs to maybe help this move along, but I cannot wait to get my cooing baby back once he starts crawling!

Notes from Ms. Norma's

Monday (Jan. 13):  Baby Lincoln loves being able to play with Atticus!  Yasmin sits behind Lincoln to play, and Atticus plays ball with them.  Atticus rolls it to Lincoln and he is so excited to have it!  Lincoln reaches for the ball with his hands and bounces with a huge smile!

Tuesday:  Baby Lincoln had a wonderful day!  He is on the move!  During tummy time, Lincoln wanted to reach for the cloth ball.  He couldn't reach it, but he was pushing himself backward and then he turned himself over.  He is just always in a fun mood!

Wednesday:  I (Yesenia) love the way that Baby Lincoln watches the big kids playing.  Lincoln gets so excited.  He kicks his little feet and he began to laugh when Atticus walked toward him to bring him a toy.  It is so much for me to watch!  I laugh myself from his joy.

Thursday:  Atticus played with the toy kitchen and prepared something tasty for baby Lincoln to eat.  Atticus brought Lincoln a pot with a lid filled with carrots and piece of pineapple (all pretend food, of course!).  They both sat on the floor facing each other.  Lincoln found the carrots very delicious.  Atticus wanted the carrots too, but Lincoln hold a tight hold on them.  Atticus didn't get to try a piece!

Tuesday (Jan. 21):  We loved seeing Lincoln on his tummy!  He is going on all fours on he rocked back and forth twice.  He got on all fours again and he pushed himself backward.  Before we knew it he was almost under the table.  It is so great to see his progress!

Wednesday:  I (Norma) think Lincoln is demonstrating new development advances almost daily.  He is becoming in expert in rolling and rocking on all fours.  Forget reading books, he wants to rock and roll - literally!  He lets us know what his priorities are.  His focus on motor development is important for crawling, standing, and walking.  All of this depends on a strong neck and neck muscles.  Lincoln holds his head up and sits well - for some time now so he is heading for walking eventually (watch out mom and dad!).  Lincoln is also growing socially.  He plays games with eye contact and vocalizations with children and adults.  This morning Lincoln and Sebastian talked back and forth.  Lincoln was thrilled.  He prefers some children over others which demonstrates that he can tell people apart.  He has not yet shown us some separation distress but that is coming fairly soon.

Thursday:  Lincoln and I (Yesenia) were having face time.  This baby is as cute as a button!  He really smiles at everything.  He is very easy going.  Baby Lincoln noticed my zipper and he was very curious about it.  He reached out for it a few times and he finally grabbed it.  He actually pulled the zipper down and unzipped my sweater about an inch.  That is pretty good for a baby!

Friday:  Lincoln was a happy little baby today!  He ate and slept well and he lives to play, play, play.  We are introducing him to water play.  We sit him on the sink and let him play in the faucet so he can touch the running water.  He is so interested in everything now.  We are trying to find new tactile experiences for Lincoln every day
