Start of Summer Fun

Wowza - what an amazing weekend!  Three-day weekends are always the best, but they are even better when the weather is nice and Momma and Dadda are both home and fully present without work in the background.

We started our weekend by an impromptu trip to Cincy.  We love the museum there, and Lincoln and Declan were more than excited to see the trains.  Gigi joined us for the day trip. The kids did okay in the car. It was difficulty because I had to ride in the back with them and they wanted to play for the two hours up and back instead of sleep, but it was fun to be with them nonetheless. Sadly, when we got there we discovered the trains are down for improvements.  There was a small display, but it was nowhere the size it was when we were there a year ago.  Linc did not know, and he seemed to enjoy the display.  He and Declan headed downstairs and really loved the children's museum.  They had so much fun in the ball display, the digger and rocks, and the water area.  I especially loved watching Lincoln in the tree house area.  Last year he wanted nothing to do with it, but this year he wanted to go upstairs by himself and didn't want us to help him.  He navigated his way through despite the big kids, and boy was he confident!  It is fun to watch the children year after year go back to the same exhibits and see how their skills and confidence change.

We visited a splash park on Sunday.  Last year the boys were pretty hesitant and shy.  Declan was not walking yet so he would just sit by a fountain and wait for it to splash.  Lincoln would stay by side and fuss.  This year we could not stop them from running in.  They ran from fountain to fountain, gathering water, and throwing it on each other. So much fun!

We ended the weekend by going uptown to the Plain City Memorial Day parade.  It was a bit of a bust, but Lincoln nor Declan knew what a real parade was like.  They liked the firetrucks and police cars, and Declan liked the marching band.  They both waved to everyone (all 7 cars), but they were a bit sad there was no candy.  We walked to the ball fields with Sissy and Shaun, and they got some candy from the concession stands and played on the playground. Then we headed home and had water play in our front yard with our neighbor kids - Ethan and Charlie (the little girl). Brian and I looked at each other at one point and both said - this is why we moved here. The boys were having so much fun, and so were we!

Whew - I am tired just writing about it all, but this weekend made me so excited for the summer!!
