Last minute family trip

We decided about three days before the weekend to head to Cincy for a quick trip.  We have gone once before and stayed at a hotel that has very affordable suites which is a necessity for our two little guys.  There is a kitchen, bedroom with a door that closes and a living room along with free cookies in the lobby and a pool.  What more can you want?!

We tried to book the hotel for Saturday and Sunday night, but it was sold out on Saturday because of the long Labor Day weekend.  We wanted to make the most of our 24 hours there so we drove straight to the zoo.  Good decision to add something fun, bad decision on an almost 100 degree day.  Also, Declan did not take a proper morning nap in the car.  We pretty much walked in a circle, sweated up a storm and spent almost $80 in admissions, train ride, and lunch.

Very sweaty train ride and poor Declan had sunscreen wiped in his tired eyes

Then we headed to our hotel, checked in and everyone took naps.  The swimming pool called our names, and the boys had SO much fun!  Linc was jumping in and very confident, and Declan just loved splashing around.  We ended the night at Ruby Tuesdays where the kids collected compliments from everyone.

The night was pretty awful.  Declan does not love sleeping in his pack and play and the people upstairs were beyond loud.  I think Brian and I were both happy when it was morning but super tired.  We pulled it together, had breakfast at the hotel and then headed down to the museum.

We have been to the Children's Museum before, but we added the train part of the museum for just a little bit more money.  It was completely worth it - Lincoln LOVED the trains!  He followed them around, enjoyed looking at the little cities, and had fun yelling GO when a train would stop at a signal.  We actually went back to this part after lunch, but Linc just had to see the "choo choos" one more time.

For a very last minute trip it was well worth it.  I can't wait to go on a real family vacation soon, but for now, trips like this fits the bill of making memories and having fun with the kids in the moment.
