We moved "home" for many reasons, but one of the main reasons was to be closer to family and be a part of a smaller community. This weekend proved to us that we made the best decision in moving home! Linc had such a great time with us and his uncles and aunt and experienced so many new things! Friday afternoon, the actual 4th of July, we went to the Dublin Parade which draws about 20,000 people through old downtown Dublin. We went about half way through the parade, actually found decent parking, and a good viewing spot. Linc was not as impressed with the parade but he did like the floats with music and we liked the floats with candy.
That evening we decided to take a quick walk to the neighborhood park to do a round on the swings. Little did we know there was a community festival right in our very own park! They had bouncy houses, a corn hole tournament, a cotton candy stand, and a free cook-out. Brian and I decided to eat dinner there; Linc reached out for my cheeseburger so I gave him a bite and he actually ate it. I got him his own, and the kid ate half of a cheeseburger and then tried some of my lemonade. Needless to say he was in heaven! Brian kicked the soccer ball around a little with him, which he also thought was hysterical.
On Saturday we went to my hometown and watched the fireworks. We thought the parking would be tough and it would be busy so we got there at 6pm. Well things have changed since we were little because there was no one there! No. One. So we parked and set up our blanket anyway, and then we walked up to our local pizza place for dinner. Linc tried a little pizza and was intrigued but I think he preferred his watermelon. Then we went back to play on the playground and kill some time before the fireworks at 10pm. My brother and sister were there so it was really nice to spend time with them and reminisce about old times :)
We rounded off the weekend with a trip to the zoo, and Linc really enjoyed the polar bear and playing in the polar bear park. He was more hesitant of the petting zoo this time and preferred just to watch, but we saw some giggles and pointing to the animals throughout the day. It is so nice to be able to come and go to the zoo without worrying about getting our money worth for the admission....we love our family membership!
It will be hard to go back to work this week or rather watch Brian go back to work, but I have a couple of things up my sleeve to keep us busy before next weekend!
