Bump Club and Beyond is an organization that I belong to in Chicago that hosts seminars, dinners, classes, etc. I took advantage of the club a lot over the summer when I was not working, but now I pretty much get the emails and maybe check out one thing a month. We did go to a sleep workshop hosted by the Bump Club, and we were really impressed with the speaker and organization of the morning.
So....Windy City Live teamed up with Bump Club and 50 or so mothers were chosen from submissions of how these mothers were influential in their community, pillars of their community, and who went the extra mile each day. I told Brian about the contest, and he wrote a submission, and I was chosen to attend a live taping of the show! It was so much fun to see a television show be filmed, the celebrity was extremely handsome, and we went home with many, many great gifts! One of the segments was about the top holiday items for new moms and babies, and we went home with each item that was revealed!

Below is the letter that Brian submitted. I am the lucky one to have such an amazing husband and one that recognizes how much we both give to our family to make it happy and full of love.
My wife, Shelley, and I welcomed our bundle of joy into this world on June 15th of this year. He was our rainbow baby, an unexpected surprise after my wife suffered through a roller coaster ride of a pregnancy that ended in a very painful ectopic pregnancy last summer. Our son, Lincoln, named after Abraham Lincoln and his ties to the Chicago-area, came a couple of weeks early and continues to keep us on our toes with his new tricks, smiles, and sleep patterns!My wife teaches Kindergarten and really struggled with the decision to return to work. Shelley really wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, but her commitment to the kindergarten children at her school of 10 years pulled her back into the classroom. We both go to drop Lincoln off at daycare each morning, and I know she chokes back tears as she kisses Lincoln good-bye for the day, but she is so dedicated to her students and school. She is raising 20 little “babies” to be excellent citizens, kind friends, and “smarties” and she does so with a smile on her face every day.Before she was pregnant with Lincoln, she volunteered at Children’s Hospital as a bedside children’s respite volunteer and worked with children who were living in an abused woman’s shelter. She did this twice a week every week up to the point where she decided to put herself through a Masters in Education Administration at DePaul. With a little extra time on her hands this summer during her maternity leave, Shelley volunteered in the organization More Than Milk, which re-energized her desire to give back to the community through volunteer work.My wife is amazing. She is the glue that holds our young family together and is always willing to give everything she has for me and Lincoln. She has always spent so much time giving to others, and now she pours so much energy into her work and then comes home to giggle and snuggle with her son too.Having Shelley be part of the Windy City Live show would be so rewarding for her. To have a day to herself to enjoy being off work, off volunteering, and off “mommy duty” would mean the world to her (even though she would feel guilty the entire time.) She balances life so well, but every now and then we all need some time to enjoy a special treat! And for someone who doesn’t win anything (she gets excited when they call her number at the deli counter in the grocery store) it would mean the world to her.Please consider Shelley for the honor of being part of this show.
