19 Weeks!

Lincoln looks and act so much more like a baby than a newborn now!  He is almost outgrowing his 3 month clothes, and I am excited to explore his 6 month clothes.  He is long and lean so certain clothing brands definitely fit better than others, but he looks super handsome in anything of course :)

Likes:  He loves looking in the mirror, playing with his toys on the playmat, and reading books.  Brian told me that Lincoln "helped" him turn the pages of a board book.  I didn't believe him, but on Friday Ms. Norma told us the same thing!  She was blown away that he just reached out and flipped the page and then stared intently at the pictures.  He did it again when he was ready to move on to the next page.  I am thinking this kid is going to earn himself some scholarships for college soon with his Mensa membership :)

Dislikes: Being hungry (he ate a nine ounce bottle at daycare this week - wowza) and when no one is paying attention to him.  He knows how to get our attention when we stop playing with him or have to get ready in the mornings - a loud little scream does the trick!  Then he immediately smiles.

Two weeks worth of daycare notes.  Read it or skip it :)

October 16th:  Lincoln did really well today in spite of his little cold.  He seems more aware of all that is going on around him now that he is four-months-old.  We cleaned his nose twice but he seems to be able to breathe through his nose fine.  He had no trouble drinking his bottle or sucking on his paci.  It was a day that he laughed at the antics of the children in front of him at their meals.  We like to include Baby Lincoln at breakfast and he appreciates it by looking and smiling.

October 17th: Baby Lincoln had a lovely day.  Yasmin saw Lincoln roll over during tummy time!  Wow!  He's holding his head up for a longer period of time too.  I (Yesenia) read Lincoln a few short stories, and he was really looking at the pictures in the books.  Later, when the older children were having music time Lincoln and I joined in.  I had him hold a small maraca and we danced. :)

October 18th: Lincoln had a good day.  He has been himself for the most part despite his cold.  He had a pretty good nap in the morning although he didn't have much of an appetite.  He drank fewer ounces of milk compared to his normal day.  Lincoln was in good spirits and very smiley as usual.  Our hearts broke when we saw his legs with the bandages - poor baby! (Band-aids from his 4-month shots)

October 21st:  Lincoln was as happy as a lark today!  Yasmin said that she was giving him a massage. She was massaging his legs and he was so content.  When she reached his chest, Lincoln began giggling so much!

October 22nd:  Baby Lincoln is such a sweetie!  I (Yesenia) really enjoy being around him.  This afternoon I changed his diaper and he was talking to me so much.  We talked about his mommy and daddy which seemed to be a very pleasant topic for him.  It brought many smiles to his face.  He is such a happy baby.

October 23rd:  Baby Lincoln has changed a great deal since he first arrived.  He eats more and sleeps longer.  His cry is less newborn and more infant.  He sees better.  Most infants take awhile to see the complete face of a person, and they need to see it close-up.  Lincoln now not only can see my (Norma) face from farther away, but he also recognizes people.  He didn't smile at a mother he did not know today, but he did smile at his caretakers.  He is reaching for toys with one hand and can put his paci back in his mouth.  He is experimenting with vocalizations and uses some vocalizations for social experiences.  Isn't Baby Lincoln wonderful?!

October 24th:  Even though it was cold today, we decided to take Baby Lincoln on a walk around the block with the other children.  He was in the stroller all bundled up and did not fall asleep.  While the other children admired the neighborhood decorations, Baby Lincoln admired the children around him. He looked all around and talked!  He looked like a tiny peanut with all of the covers on him.

October 25th:  Baby Lincoln is becoming so alert.  He looks at the children when they are eating their lunches.  He makes eye contact when we speak to him and smiles at us.  Lincoln doesn't really like tummy time, but he is doing so well lifting his head.  We let Baby Lincoln play with the bright start toy bouncer and he loved turning the spinning barrel.  What a big boy!
