21 Weeks!

Lincoln is 21 weeks old.  He celebrated in style this morning at brunch at our favorite brunch place - Nookies.  We go every weekend, and we have made friends with one of the waitresses, Jessica.  Jessica always makes time to come over to say hello and play with Lincoln.  She has a great "baby voice" she uses it to make him smile, and she is determined to get him to talk although he tends to be quiet in public places (thankfully!).  He was awake today during brunch and sat at the table while we waited for our meals - he was in heaven with his new view of the place (instead of in his stroller) and the attention from all of the wait staff.  Without fail, he fell asleep in his cozy stroller at the end of the meal.

Likes:  Lincoln loves to eat.  He is downing seven to eight ounce bottles at daycare and is drinking about every two hours.  We are trying to stretch him to three and eventually four hours to eat which should help his nighttime sleep as well.

Dislikes:  Linc dislikes his stuffy nose which he has again.  He was sleeping so well (after we abandoned the sleep training) and then he got a little cold again.  I stress again.  So annoying.  So we are spending time in the steamy bathroom (again), spraying saline (again), and using the snot sucker (again).  I think this will be the story of our lives this winter - getting back on track with sleep, getting sick, then having to get back on track again.  We are going to a "sleep brunch" tomorrow that is being held by a sleep expert - it will be interesting to hear what she has to say!  Hopefully, Lincoln will not sleep through the presentation :)

Daycare Notes

Monday (November 4):  We tried boosting Lincoln's bottle by a little bit but for both bottles he took 5ozs.  He did sleep a little longer in the morning, i.e. one hour instead of 30-40 minutes.  His afternoon nap not as long (35 minutes).  He was not unhappy though when we danced to music, played in his Bumpo seat, read books, reached for toys at tummy time, and watched the older children play (his favorite activity).

Tuesday:  Baby Lincoln had a nice afternoon.  He was very engaged watching his friend, Atticus, playing with the pop-onz toy.  Lincoln followed Atticus with his eyes where ever he went.  When Lincoln gets older, he'll learn quite a few things from Atticus.  Baby Lincoln sympathizes for Atticus.  Today, when Lincoln hear Atticus cry, he began to cry too.  It was the sweetest thing!

Wednesday:  Baby Lincoln got a treat watching the older children play.  Lincoln got to watch them play with shaving cream and the water play table.  Afterwards, Lincoln and I did some reading.  He touches the pages and listens attentively.  Baby Lincoln really liked playing peek-a-boo.

Thursday:  Lincoln is working on combining his morning naps into one.  Since he slept when he arrived, he was wide awake and ready to play until 10am.  Then, he took a long nap and was a happy camper when he awoke.  He is taking longer at tummy time and his lifting his head very well.  He loves the Bumpo seat still and even was willing to play a little longer in his swing with toys today.  His ability to reach and grasp is developing well.  When he isn't tired or hungry, his attention to toys is lengthening.  All in all, Lincoln is ahead of himself as he slides into five months old.

Friday:  It seems that Baby Lincoln recognizes his name.  Yasmin was holding Lincoln, and I (Yesenia) called his name and he turned his head toward me.  Lincoln and I played peek-a-boo and he was just giggling so much!  I had so much fun playing with Lincoln.  Yasmin and I look forward to seeing Lincoln every day.  We enjoy being around him because he is always smiling.  He's beautiful!
